Alex & Red, a national executive search f irm, has been retained by The Center Serving Persons with Developmental Disabilities, Houston's largest not-for-profit organization serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, to conduct the search for The Center's Chief Executive Officer. The Center has 424 full-time employees, a $14.2 million budget and serves 550 adults every day. The Center is a leading provider of community living, day activity, and vocational opportunities and offers day services, residential services, employment services, enrichment services, transitions curriculum programs, and a dental clinic. The Center's main campus is located just outside of downtown Houston and includes several buildings on 6. 72 acres for their various programs, including assisted living, independent living, home and community based programs, and respite ca re. In addition to its main campus, participants also reside at Willow River Farms which encompasses 125 acres in Brookshire, Texas and in group homes in the greater Houston area. The Center is currently planning on selling its main campus and relocating to a new purpose built facility. The proceeds from the sale of the campus should allow the new Chief Executive Officer the financial security to chart an expanded future for The Center.

The Center seeks an exceptional, effective, and inspirational Chief Executive Officer to build upon its past and successfully lead it into the future in fulfilling its miss ion: to promote the pursuit of choice, growth, and personal independence for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Chief Executive Officer will be a visionary, hands-on and "can do" change agent with outstanding interpersonal skills and a track record of positively impacting an organization. He or she will be creative in identifying approaches to increase awareness and visibility of The Center and will seek to forge meaningful alliances and partnerships - both public and private that will build on The Center's foundation and past success.

Candidates should have a minimum of 15 years of experience, including five years of executive leadership experience in a similar position with a not-for-profit organization; relevant for-profit business experience will also be considered. Candidates should also have proven experience in business management, including leading major funding initiatives, working with budgets in excess of $10 million and guiding change.
