Identifying Suicide Risk in Youth with IDD

In this webinar speakers will:
  • Report findings from the article Suicide Risk Screening for Youth with Developmental Disabilities in the Pediatric Emergency Department
  • Provide background on the presentation of suicide risk in the context of developmental disabilities (DDs), information on barriers to suicide risk screening and management in this population
  • Provide recommendations for adapting suicide prevention practices to improve care for children and adolescents with DDs. 
  • Provide strategies for supporting youth with IDD participation in structured mental health assessments (i.e., visuals, zoom annotate, involvement of caregivers, etc.) and identification and management of safety concerns.
