Why did you join AAIDD?
To learn as much as possible about how we can make a difference in the lives of the people we serve, and to be able to effectively communicate these strategies to our staff.
Why did you choose the field of intellectual disability?
Actually, I sort of landed in the field, unintentionally, after working in the training department at Gulf Coast Social Services. I applied for, and was offered, a position to work as a Service Coordinator for the Agency. It turned out to be one of the most rewarding and enlightening decisions I’ve ever made, and I still enjoy the work today.
AAIDD leadership positions:
I am an AAIDD Fellow and I have also had the privilege of being selected to serve on the Board of Directors for the Louisiana Chapter of AAIDD since 2011. Over the past 9 years, I have had the honor to serve in multiple roles, including serving as President of the Louisiana Chapter in 2016/2017. My current position on the AAIDD-LA Board is Vice President of Marketing.
