Melissa A. DiSipio, MSA, FAAIDD has 20 years of experience working in the field of intellectual disability. She has a BS from Villanova University and received her MSA in Health Care Administration from West Chester University.
Melissa began her career in 1995 as a house supervisor/program specialist for a large community residential agency in Delaware County, PA. She started working at Philadelphia Coordinated Health Care (PCHC), the Southeastern Pennsylvania Health Care Quality Unit (HCQU) in 1999 as a Health Care Technical Assistant (HCTA) assisting provider agencies, families and people who have ID with health care coordination during PA’s transition to Medicaid managed care. She became PCHC’s Assistant Director in 2004. PCHC strives to enhance access to community health care through education, support, advocacy and empowerment as well as to improved health care outcomes for individuals with intellectual disabilities. She has been involved in many regional and statewide health care outreach initiatives such as Dysphagia, Dementia and Access to Dental Care. Melissa has been an active steering committee member of the NTG, National Task Group on Intellectual Disabilities and Dementia Practices since its inception. She has helped co-lead different tasks in both the screening and training workgroups for the NTG. Melissa is also a graduate of The National Leadership Consortium on Developmental Disabilities at the University of Delaware.
Melissa is a former co-chair of the AAIDD Student and Early Career Professional SIG and most recently the Health and Wellness Action Group. She participates as part of the Executive Committee for the Gerontology Division. She has served on many planning committees and local arrangements committees for various conferences. Melissa is also a member of the Editorial Board for Inclusion. Melissa is a Fellow member and most recently elected to the AAIDD Board of Directors.
