December 3, 2025 ; Silver Spring, MD:
As announced earlier this year, the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities’ (AAIDD) three journals will transition to the Taylor & Francis platform and become “online-only” in January 2026.
One of many advantages of this new arrangement is that final versions of articles will be available online (first online) prior to their inclusion in a journal issue. Publishing articles this way extends and accelerates the dissemination of research findings. The January launch is on schedule:
- The transition of the electronic archives of past journal issues is nearly completed;
- Authors may submit manuscripts through the platform now; and
- Throughout December 2025, all available first online articles in AAIDD journals are open access on the Taylor & Francis platform!
“This is a great chance to check out the new sites for the journals,” said Margaret Nygren, CEO of AAIDD, “authors and readers will be pleased to see that Taylor& Francis supports color images, extended tables, and impact metrics for articles.” AAIDD members will continue to use the AAIDD website for online journal access: in January, the website access will shift to the Taylor & Francis platform.
To submit a manuscript, visit the journal’s home and click on its manuscript submission portal.
To see first online articles (which are open access during December 2025), click on “Browse all articles & issues” and select “open access articles.”
