Why did you join AAIDD?
I had been working with people with IDD since 1976. I frequently sought current information and research from the (at that time the AJMD. When I reached an administrative position I immediately become a member and have remained one ever since.

Why did you choose the field of intellectual disability?
It was happy chance; I volunteered to assist with a sledding party for a local day program and was so taken with the people that I dedicated the balance of my educational and professional life to the development and management of a wide variety of disability-related services. The dissertation project (pub. MR 8/92) was one of the first seeking to verify the value of arts programming for people with IDD. With associates I developed two art centers in the Twin Cities for both visual and performing artists with and without disabilities. I've directed residential and vocational services in New York, Minnesota and Oregon.

AAIDD leadership positions:
SIG Chair, Creative Arts Therapies (1997-2014)
Presenter at National meetings: 1996, 1997, 2011
