Always a night of fun, fellowship and networking, this year we will be eating at Front Street Bistro which serves Mediterranean-influenced cuisine with locally sourced ingredients whenever possible their preferred markets, farmers, and trusted vendors.  The restaurant is a short walk from the hotel, just 0.1 mile.  We will leave the lobby at 6:40 to walk to the restaurant for a 7:00 reservation.  If you are meeting us there or want to check it out, the address is 39 Front Street and the website is
http://frontstreetbistro.com.

Dinner will include cheese and crackers, salad, choice of entree (of two choices) and dessert.  Wine, beer and cocktails will be available and paid for individually that night.

Thursday, June 29

9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Religion and Spirituality Division Forum (Cost $30)

Home & Community Based Services (HCBS) and supporting a person’s faith and spiritual desires

Deborah Fisher will present her work around HCBS and supporting the faith and spiritual needs and desires of persons with IDD.  She will help us understand the regulations as well as the importance of accessing a person’s spiritual preferences not simply to meet regulatory compliance, but from a posture of promoting integrated, meaningful and self-directed life experiences.  The presentation will address her work with providers, faith communities, families and most importantly, individuals with disabilities.

Following her presentation, she will lead us in a discussion to help move us beyond theory to practice.  We will explore together what tools, resources and research may yet need to be done, and how the Division of Religion and Spirituality might support that development.

Henri J. Nouwen Award Presentation

Dr. Thomas B. Hoeksema Sr. will receive the 2017 Henri J. Nouwen Award at the Annual Forum. Dr. Hoeksema will also present a session at the Forum on his groundbreaking 40 year career learning from, advocating for, and working alongside persons with disabilities and their families. Grounded in a strong belief in mutuality and interdependence between persons of all abilities, Tom’s personal and professional contributions and pioneering efforts have made a lasting difference within the faith community.
