Announcing a unique partnership between NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County, Office of Mental Health (OMH), Office of Persons with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) and NYSTART. The newly designed Intellectual Disabilities/Mental Health unit will be the first of its kind in New York State. The ID/MH unit will be the only adult inpatient specialty psychiatric service for adults with both Intellectual Disabilities and Mental Health disorders in the tristate area. It is an exciting opportunity to work with a newly formed interdisciplinary team and build a model of care to address this dually diagnosed populations unique care needs.  Come join us and provide innovative care in Brooklyn, NY at NYC Health+Hospitals/Kings County!

The unit Occupational Therapist will provide direct care to adult inpatients diagnosed with intellectual disabilities and mental health diagnosis in order to ensure proper compliance with all applicable regulations, policies. The therapist will evaluate patients’ performance of activities of daily living. Instruct in prevocational activities for the purpose of mental and physical reeducation. Assist in setting up programs for the guidance of families with disabled members in the home. Monitors and documents the quality of therapeutic interventions to patients

Candidates must be graduates of an approved school of Occupational Therapy or registered Therapists recognized by the American Occupational Therapy Association.
