Kathleen McLane joined AAIDD in 2014 as Director of the Publications Program.
Kathleen’s previous positions include 21 years at the Council for
Exceptional Children, primarily as publications director, but earlier as
director of federally funded research dissemination projects. She also
served as an acquisitions editor at Corwin Press and as an editor in
Funk & Wagnalls encyclopedia division. Kathleen has also worked in
electronic and database publishing. Earlier in her career, she worked
at the Center for Applied Linguistics and as a middle school English
teacher in the Stafford County (VA) Public Schools.
Kathleen earned a bachelor's degree in English at Old Dominion
University and did graduate work in English at the University of
Maryland. Kathleen is also the parent of an adult child with
disabilities.
