Stories and information about technology that can be used by people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to improve their community participation and engagement in community life will be presented.

Presenters:
Sandy Henry, Sengistix
Sandy has supported people with disabilities in the community for over 30 years in roles from live-in to administrator. In 2007 she was part of a pilot to demonstrate the use of technology in supporting people with disabilities to enable greater independence, which ultimately resulted in the creation of Sengistix. Sandy works closely with the technology providers and support teams to design unique solutions to achieve individual goals. In 2014 Sandy is focusing attention on assisting caregiver organizations improve their utilization of various technologies to improve program support services and quality of life for the people they support

Steve Stock, AbleLink
Steve’s experience with people with cognitive disabilities began at a young age when his uncle, Francis Gauthier, came to stay at their family home. He has logged over 30 years of professional experience working in cognitive disability fields through work as a behavior specialist and has developed or managed numerous training, residential and vocational programs at a variety of non profit and state government agencies. He has been involved in over 65 successful SBIR projects funded by the U.S. Department of Education and the National Institutes of Health, including serving as Principal Investigator on numerous Phase I and Phase II research and development projects.  Steve has served on the Board of Directors for numerous adult service agencies in Michigan and Colorado. His academic background includes an undergraduate degree in social work and a graduate degree in public administration from the University of Colorado.
