Supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities through end-of-life care presents many challenges that must be considered.
Join us on Thursday, August 28th from 12 PM - 1 PM EST for a webinar on the three key topics to be addressed in end-of-life care situations. Led by Gerontologist Leigh Ann Kingsbury, this presentation will review:
- Who is the identified healthcare decision maker? Is there a healthcare power of attorney? Is there a guardian? What's the difference and what are their roles?
- Pain Management: how do we recognize pain in people with I/DD, in particular people who do not use words to talk and who it seems may have limited communication?
- Bereavement issues: how do we support caregivers, staff and others who knew and loved the person after the person has died, including other roommates and friends who may have I/DD
