Student and Early Career Scholarship Opportunities at the AAIDD Annual Meeting


Conference Scholarships

A number of scholarships to offset the cost of attendance are available to students, early career professionals and direct support professionals. Most of these scholarships are awarded to individuals who are lead authors of submissions (concurrent, symposia, or poster sessions) accepted for presentation at the conference. Individuals apply for consideration for these scholarships as part of the submission process. 

Attendance at the conference is required to receive a conference scholarship, individuals who are notified of their selection for a scholarship but do not attend the conference will not be presented with the scholarship honoraria.

Scholarships type and criteria information below:

  • Various AAIDD Interest Networks $550 plus a free registration
    Student and Early Career Professionals Scholarships - this scholarship is provided by various AAIDD Interest Groups (generally 1 per, based on available funds)

Purpose: To both acknowledge and foster outstanding student and early career professional research contributions to the Association

Criteria:

  1. The student or early career must be the lead author on an accepted paper or poster presentation 
  2. The proposal will be evaluated on the quality of the research, appropriateness of the methodology, adequacy of analysis, and quality of planned presentation.
  3. Attendance at the AAIDD Annual Meeting is REQUIRED for the the funds to be disbursed.
  4. Students may be full or part time.


  • Region V Student Scholarship - Amount $950

Purpose: To support students from Region V states (up to 2)

Criteria:

  1. Student must resides in one of Region V states: Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas
  2. The student must be the lead author on an accepted paper or poster presentation 
  3. The proposal must be meritorious
  4. Attendance at the AAIDD Annual Meeting is REQUIRED for the the funds to be disbursed.
  5. Students may be full or part time.



  • Region V DSP Scholarship - Amount $1,500

Purpose: To support DSPs from Region V states to attend the AAIDD Annual Meeting

Criteria:

  1. Applicants must be a direct support professional
  2. Applicants must resides in one of Region V states: Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas
  3. Attendance at the AAIDD Annual Meeting is REQUIRED for the the funds to be disbursed.
