***UPDATE FOR CANADIAN PARTICIPANTS***
For those of you from Canada who are interested in participating, please note that although we indicate in the webinar that one must be a U.S. Citizen to receive the stipend, we now have permission to provide stipends for Canadian citizens.
Please contact Carolyn Hughes at sischild@aaidd.org for approval to assess your students. In addition, your paperwork will be slightly different from that of U.S. Citizens. Again, contact Carolyn Hughes for information about the paperwork needed to obtain compensation for completed SIS-Children’s assessments if you are from Canada.

Speakers:
James R. Thompson, PhD, Chair of the Department of Special Education, Illinois State University
Carolyn Hughes, PhD, Professor of Special Education, Vanderbilt University
Overview:
We invite you to join us for a webinar to learn more about the launch of field testing for a standardized assessment, the Supports Intensity Scale for Children or SIS-Children. In this webinar we will explain how to potentially become a data collector in this project and receive a stipend for your work. SIS-Children is designed to measure the relative intensity of support needs of children with intellectual disability. This assessment differs from traditional assessments due to the focus on the extent of extra support a child needs in order to fully participate in a variety of activities. Two of the scale’s authors, Dr. Thompson and Dr. Hughes will provide an overview of the field testing process for the SIS-Children, as well as guide participants on how to administer and score.
