Works as part of the Diversion First initiative, providing integrated behavioral health care to individuals involved in the criminal justice system. Position will be supporting Diversion First efforts and ADC based services through partnerships with the Fairfax County Sheriff's Office, Court Services, Fairfax County Courts and community providers.

Candidate will support psychiatric providers with medication management, administer psychiatric injections, conduct risk evaluations, treatment planning, linking to community resources and clinical assessments. Completes documentation in an electronic health record as well as in sheriff's office systems. Work schedule is variable between 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Position requires some evening, weekend and holiday availability. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills possess a commitment to high quality customer service.

NOTE: This position includes a signing bonus of $2,000 for new hires.

Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in nursing; plus two years of post-licensure experience as a nurse, in the specialty area of psychiatric mental health nursing, substance use disorders, intellectual disability, or relevant clinical specialty;  or graduation from an accredited college with an associate degree in nursing; plus four years of post-licensure experience as a nurse in the specialty area of psychiatric mental health nursing, substance use disorders, intellectual disability, or relevant clinical specialty.

Possession of a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia or a multistate licensure privilege to practice as a Registered Nurse in Virginia. Valid driver's license. 

The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, driving record check, a Child

Protective Services Registry, and a check with the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) to the satisfaction of the employer. Annual TB test.

Ability to drive car, transport clients, make home/community-based visits, use personal computer, provide injectable medications, accurately perform tactile and auditory pulse, blood pressure and respiratory assessments.

Communicate with client and staff in a timely and effective manner, observe and report on client appearance, mental status medical status and behavior.

Ability to stand, walk, carry items while providing direct nursing care of inmates at ADC. Ability to move throughout jail to perform crisis intervention, staff consultations, and to document contact in multiple computer systems. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
