Assistant Residence Manager
Edwin Gould Services operates ten Offices for Persons with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) certified residential sites for New York City Residents. Consumers of this service usually have life-long disabilities attributable to mental and /or physical or a combination of mental and physical impairments. Individualized care plans are based on the varying levels of the consumer’s disability and designed to be suitable to his or her needs.
We are currently seeking an Assistant Residence Manager to assist with day to day functioning of the ID/DD Residential program. Duties include oversight of program activities, coordination of the habilitation plan activities and supervision of Direct Support Professional Staff (DSPS). The Assistant Residence Manager helps organize and distribute work assignments and promotes the orderly and efficient operation of the residential environment, including assisting with direct support of the individuals, when necessary. Work is performed under the supervision of the Residence Manager.

Create an environment that facilitates positive interactions among individuals, staff and the community. Enforces approved HCBS Setting Requirements on the part of staff and facility for protection of the individual’s rights.
Carries out management activities as prescribed; interacts with individuals and engages them in development-appropriate activities; develops plan to assist individuals in acquiring socially acceptable behavior and habits; encourages individuals to express choices and preferences in habilitation plans, participates in Circle of Support conferences or ISP reviews.
Encourages participation in structured activities/learning experiences appropriate to age and developmental capacity of each individual; implements activities which assist individuals to acquire skills necessary to function at the highest possible level of independence.
Under guidance of the Residence Manager, provides working supervision for Direct Support Professional staff, including communicating work assignments and modeling proper techniques for supporting individuals.
Promotes the performance expectations of the Core Competencies for Direct Support Professionals.
Attends to administrative details, including the maintenance of confidential files and records; collect information and provide to the Residence Manager, as requested.
Must be willing to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the residential program. Must be willing to work beyond the scheduled hours to meet the needs of the residential program. Provides direct support to individuals for twenty percent of scheduled hours.
Must be available to report to the residence in an impromptu manner to meet the coverage needs of the residential program.
Qualification and Requirements:
Minimum of High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Bachelor's preferred
A minimum of three (3) year experience working in an environment with developmentally challenged individuals, or providing direct support to disabled or challenged individuals in a group residential, long term care or health care setting.
Prior supervision experience preferred.
Other relevant requirements:
Valid Driver’s License with satisfactory driving record
Must be SCIP-R, First Aid, CPR and AMAP (or must obtain certification within the first 60 days of employment)
Must be able and willing to travel to such locations and with such frequency as Edwin Gould deems necessary - using public transportation. Job Type: Full-time
